Price comes down to what is standing on the ground. Thick understory, big trees, stumps coming out and how the debris gets handled all move the number. Access matters too, because some tracts are harder to get machines onto. We price each job after looking at it.
Do you charge for an estimate?
Estimates are free. We come out to the property, look at the land and give you a price for the work. The visit costs you nothing, and the job starts when you say go.
What areas do you cover?
We are based in Monticello and work about a 40-mile radius. In Florida that covers Jefferson, Madison, Taylor, Leon and Wakulla counties, and we travel into Tallahassee. We also cross the state line into Thomas, Grady and Brooks counties in South Georgia. Every town is listed on our service areas page.
What is the difference between land clearing and forestry mulching?
Land clearing takes the growth off and leaves open ground, and stumps and roots can come out with the excavator. Forestry mulching grinds brush and small trees in place and leaves a mulch layer behind. Mulching moves faster through thick understory. A full clear is what you want when the ground has to be built on.
What happens to the brush and trees you take out?
On a mulching job the material is ground up and stays on the ground as mulch. On a full clear the brush, stumps and root balls come out. The dump truck hauls them off the property. Some landowners would rather the piles stay in one spot on the land, and that works too.
Can you clear brush along a creek, ditch or pond bank?
Yes, that work goes to the excavator with the mulching head on the boom. The machine sits on firm ground and reaches out over the bank, so the soft ground below stays put. Rules near water come from your county and your water management district. Check with them before work starts near a creek or a wetland.
How long does it take to clear an acre?
It depends on what is growing on it, and light understory goes quickly. Thick woods with big trees and stumps to pull take much longer. Wet ground and tight access slow a job down as well. We give you a time frame with the estimate, once we have seen the land.
What should I have ready before you come out?
Know roughly where your property lines run, which matters most on big rural tracts. Point out anything you want left standing, like shade trees, a fence or a well head. If the job involves digging, buried lines get located first through Sunshine 811, Florida's free one-call service. State law says to notify them at least two full business days ahead.
